Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“God’s Grace, Your Gifts” is the theme of our Fall Stewardship Appeal. In this 500th Year of the Luther’s Reformation, we know what it means to worship God and be freed by grace to “Welcome Others, Grow in Grace and Share Christ’s Love.”
When we experience God’s grace, we can’t help but respond with gratitude as our gifts of love, money and ministry make a difference in our church, our community and the wider world. On this 45th Anniversary of Community Lutheran, God’s grace and our gifts continue to make an impact through worship and music and in the faith formation of children, youth and adults in Church, in our community through CKCP Preschool and the Loudoun Veterans Support Group, as well as relief work and service with mission partners in New Orleans, West Virginia and Rwanda.
In the weeks ahead you will be hearing more about the exciting ministry plans for 2017-18. Newsletter articles, bulletin inserts, temple talks, letters and a brochure will inform you of our congregation’s mission plans for the coming year. As part of the Stewardship program this year, you will be invited by letter to consider increasing your offering for the coming year. Please pray about this request and do your best to respond generously as the Lord leads you. Then, on “God’s Grace, Your Gifts” Sunday, November 5th, we will be presenting our pledges and commitments (we call them “Statements of Intent”) during the worship service. You are welcome to mail your Statement of Intent to the church office if you are not present that Sunday.
People from whom a response has not been received by November 17th will be telephoned to make sure everyone has the opportunity to present their offering plan for the coming year. Thank you for being part of this exciting congregation. Because of God’s grace and your gifts we pray that God’s Spirit through our life together will continue to reach out with the Gospel!
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Joseph Vought and Rev. Annabelle Markey

P.S. We had considered conducting a capital appeal to begin to address the facility and other ministry needs. Instead, we are seeking to significantly increase our regular, on-going stewardship to fully fund our ministry needs.
