Annette and I have had the privileged of serving as Communion Ministers since the beginning of this ministry program. The ministry involves much more than sharing Communion with our homebound members and associates. Listening to an important occurrence in the communicant’s life both good and bad, replacing a light bulb ,reading a label written in very fine print ,or walking with an elder participant to an event on another level of their facility.
This visiting is not always sweetness and light as we have seen many of our friends pass on to their eternal rest and we of course are very sad when losing one of our charges but have to rejoice in their joining with our savior leaving behind the cares of this world.
In closing although the program brings our church fellowship to our homebound members we are in fact the recipients of the joy of our ministry. We are all charged to care for one another but as we are reminded when we minister to one of the least of our brothers and sisters, we minister also to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
