We were delighted to have 50 quilts blessed by the congregation on Sunday, May 6 for Lutheran World Relief. A group of us traveled to New Windsor, MD and delivered the quilts to their distribution center. The staff was kind enough to give us a tour of the warehouse and we were able to watch the quilts being processed and stored and await the word as to where they will be sent. (Each bundle in the picture could hold 30 or more quilts.)
In the past couple of months were thrilled to have received Action Team Grants from Thrivent to purchase batting and material to continue our mission. CLC Quilter’s Group meet on Wednesdays from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., and during that time we are able to put together at least three quilts per week. We are always looking for people to join us or donated sheets.
The quilts that are made not only go to Lutheran World Relief but many stay in Loudoun County to help Mobile Hope and Good Shepard Alliance.
At this time I would like to thank the following gals who have helped this year: Mary Anne Bender, Peggy Darr, Peggy DeWeese and her mother Nancy, Cheri McLaughlin, Linda Imler, Marilyn Bowers, Jerry Bobchek, Bonnie Jaeger and Glorene Mjoness.
As the saying goes “Many hands make light work. “ If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me, we would love to have you join us on Wednesday’s.
