“Christmas Caroling and Tree Lighting at Community Lutheran Church” – Sunday December 10th

On Sunday evening, December 10th families and children of all ages gathered at Community Lutheran Church to practice a few Christmas carols with Music Minister, Jennifer Quinones.  Then we went caroling into the night to two Senior Living Centers, Ashby Ponds in Ashburn and Sunrise Senior Living in Sterling.    We had a fun time caroling and singing Christmas songs with the residents, a friendly dog of one of the residents and the staff.   Afterwards we all returned to the church fellowship hall for Pizza, Hot Chocolate and other goodies.

The evening came to a festive close with the Lighting of the CLC Christmas Tree in the front of our Church.   Wayne Nielsen arranged to have boom truck with a lift and workers decorate our tree with hundreds of beautiful white Christmas bulbs.    As the congregation gathered outside we had a countdown to the time when the switch was thrown and our tree was lit.    We sang a few carols around the tree and gave thanks for a wonderful evening together.   The tree lights are on a timer and lit every evening through the night until the morning during the Christmas season.  We thank Wayne Nielsen and family for this Advent Christmas idea and inspiration, a beautiful beacon of light for our community.

“Glory to God in the highest and Peace to all people on earth!”   Merry Christmas to the family of God at Community Lutheran and to the whole Cascades Community!
