On Sunday evening, we gathered together with our sisters and brothers from the Immanuel Mar Thoma Congregation with whom we share our space to sing carols, enjoy cookies, hot cocoa (with marshmallows!), hot cider, and a tree lighting!
We started off by singing some classics, even mixing it up and having women, men, and children singing various parts of the carols and our youngest ones playing percussion:
We also sang “Joy to the World” which will be put together with other congregations in the Metro D.C. Synod for a wonderful Christmas compilation!:
In addition to singing Western carols together, we had the pleasure of hearing Immanuel Mar Thoma’s fantastic carols in Hindi and Malayalam, a dialect from Kerala, India. They sang about the angels praising God for the birth of Jesus and the wise men traveling from afar to worship the newborn king.
