The CLC Stitchers recently received a $250 Thrivent action grant to purchase yarn to make hats and scarves to be donated to Mobile Hope. Mobile Hope will distribute the hats and scarves to school-age children that need them, in Loudoun County. The Stitchers used coupons and purchased yarn that was on sale to maximize the use of the grant. They will be able to make at least 40 hats and 40 scarves with the yarn purchased. The Stitchers have made similar donations to Mobile Hope in the past, however, they purchased all the yarn themselves.
Do you knit or crochet, or would you like to learn how? There are experienced stitchers that are willing and able to teach you or refresh your skills. Please consider joining the CLC Stitchers. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays, of the month, from 10:00am -11:30am, at church in Room 11. There are 8 people in the group and they would love to expand. In addition to hats and scarves, the Stitchers make prayer shawls for people that are ill, have lossed a loved one, or are going through a difficult time. They knit or crochet throws for CLC youth that are graduating so they know their church family is thinking of them when they go off to college. Last year the Stitchers made 50 bears for Knitting Without Borders. The bears were designated for a medical mission in Guyana and were distributed to children there. The CLC Stitchers are a great example of a group serving our church, our local community, and our world…and they have fun in the process!
