CLC Members attend Prayer Vigil for Pittsburgh at Sha’are Shalom Synagogue and ELCA Bishop Eaton Addresses the Violence in Pittsburgh
Members from Community Lutheran – Mark and Pam Becker, Karen Shelton, Roberta Buxton and Debra and Pr. Joe Vought- attended the Interfaith Prayer Vigil for Victims of the Pittsburgh Shooting at Sha’are Shalom Synagogue in Leesburg, Monday evening, October 29th. Clergy and parishioners of many churches, synagogues and houses of worship were there from Leesburg, Loudoun Co and beyond in what was a standing room only crowd that spilled out into the parking lot. Loudon Co officials were present as were Leesburg Police and the Loudoun Co Sheriff and deputies. Attorney General Mark Herring was present along with Barbara Comstock and Jennifer Wexton to address the crowd deploring the violence, calling for unity and praying for the victims. It was a moving gathering as we sang and prayed together and listened to the Jewish Kaddish Prayers for mourning. The ADAMS Center Children’s Choir sang and a Bell Choir from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church also offered music. The gathering closed with singing “God Bless America” and an Interfaith Blessing of the Congregation by all of the Clergy who were present.
