Did you know that there are over 20,000 military veterans in Loudoun County—one of the largest concentrations of veterans in the United States? Many of these brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom and independence sometimes find themselves in need of a helping hand to get them back on their feet.
Colby Sandt, a young man who served as a Marine in Afghanistan, wanted to make a difference and contacted Community Lutheran’s “Loudoun Veterans and Family Support Group” with a fun and creative idea to raise money for Veterans and families struggling to recover from military service. “Shave for the Brave,” a charity event supporting Loudoun Veteran and Family Support (LVFS), took place on July 6th from 1-6pm at “Spanky’s Shenanigans” in Leesburg, VA. Participants gathered sponsors who donated money and then came out to watch them shave their heads, beards, mustaches in support of this awesome cause. There was live entertainment provided by Gabe Marshall, craft beer donated by local breweries, door prizes and a 50/50 raffle! 100% of the proceeds was directed to Loudoun County Veterans and their families.
Pr. Joe joined Colby and had his head shaved. The Buzzell family came to “Spanky’s” to sponsor and cheer them on and Mark Buzzell decided to have his head shaved for the cause as well.
A BIG THANK YOU AND SALUTE to Community Lutheran’s “Loudoun Veterans and Family Support” for ministering and making a difference in the lives of those who served our country!!
“THANK YOU MEMBERS OF CLC AND SO MANY OTHERS WHO SPONSORED PR. JOE AND MADE “SHAVE FOR THE BRAVE” A SUCCESS!!
