Dear Friends of CLC:

Since April 2011 we have been members of Community Lutheran Church. From then to now, we have enjoyed so many wonderful friendships and becoming part of a Christian community that has been so important in our lives.   From the first time we walked through the doors at CLC, we felt truly welcomed and included.  Over the years we have been blessed to serve on the teams for Social Ministry, Earthkeeping Ministry, Endowment Fund Committee, Renovation Committee, Stewardship for all Seasons, and Michael served on Church Council. We have been committed to the CLC Mission of welcoming others, growing in grace, and sharing Christ’s love.  We have the fondest memories of Mission Trips to New Orleans and to West Virginia, Men’s and Women’s Retreats and Breakfasts, Octoberfest, Pancake Suppers, Book Club, Lenten soup suppers, amazing musical events, and fundraisers…the list is long indeed.

After careful thought, we have decided that it is time for a less hectic paced life for us in a more rural area. We are heading for Stoney Creek @ Wintergreen in Nellysford, VA in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains, about 32 miles SW of Charlottesville, VA. We think this will be a place that fits our interests and we look forward to exploring and becoming part of a new active community.   As we move out on July 8, we are so sad that we did not have another opportunity to worship together in person, but we will certainly be back to visit when that can occur — hopefully in the not too distant future.   And yes, we have identified a Lutheran Church nearby in Waynesboro and look forward to checking out that congregation.

Our lives have been enriched and nourished by the CLC Community in immeasurable ways, spiritually and in fellowship, and for that we are forever blessed.  We wish CLC all the best as you transition to new and exciting things and are excited to see what the future brings. Our special love and appreciation to Pastor Annabelle for her counsel, friendship, and leadership always, but especially in these extraordinary times.

So, we won’t say goodbye, but rather… until we meet again. Let us know if you are down our way, would love to say hello!

Peace and Blessings to you all.

    Linda and Michael Smyser
